  The idea of establishing such a non profit University in Arabic world was initiated by HRH Prince Talal bin abdulaziz; The Honourable President of Arab Gulf Development Program (AGFUND). In 1996 HRH Prince Talal officially announced the concept of establishing the Arab Open University as a non-conventional academic institution and as a foundation which contributes to steering development in scientific, social and cultural spheres. This initiative developed to a full pledged Arab Open University in 2002 in a strategic partnership with the open University in the United kingdom.

  This new building is a major upgrade than the previous excuse of a university building. The new building in general has higher quality materials than the previous one, well constructed, looks more modern and is well organized. However the latter cannot be said about the parking areas surrounding the building. They didn’t put much thought into the parkings and it gets really crowded at times, just imagine how crowded it’ll become after women are permitted to drive. Sadly the roads leading to the university are in poor or terrible condition. Students and staff risk damaging their suspensions, tires and etc because of the terrible condition of the roads. Unfortunately there aren’t any restaurants in the vicinity of the building, granted it’s a university mostly popular with part time workers but it’s unfortunate for the full time students. On a more positive note, it is handicap accessible and the classrooms and offices are well ventilated. The administration and teachers are professionals.

  Update: The beauty outside doesn’t reflects the inside. Sadly it feels like a maize with narrow roads. The entrance is confusing a bit. Fair to say, making each department in level is a good idea, but didn’t help to know the location of the classroom you are looking for. Management offices and the classrooms are not organized and clearly labeled! The parking is a huge problem. It seems they haven’t thought about it. My first visit I thought the parking is the basement since there are none outside!, but I thought wrong! ------------------- Very interesting. It’s not officially opened so they didn’t allow me to get inside. It looks promising. As new building deigned for the AOU. Let’s hope it’s well a structure for student. My only complain is the area kind of far from any services ( Restaurants, etc… ) but this may change in time.

  Well the building is good and wide, forgot take pics from inside, but its too far though, and no food nearby no restaurants or anything 😣😣😣😥
