  SAPTCO is by far the safest way to travel in the Kingdom. They won't speed or drive like other maniacs on the road putting your lives at risk. The 'main' Makkah bus stop is a very clean facility with seating and snack shop and bathroom facilities. The average trip from Makkah to Madinah takes around 5.5 hours with a half-hour stopover. The return trip from Madinah to Makkah takes over 7 hours due to 2 stops: 1 for the Meeqat (Ehram) and the other regular break. Adult fare for the Makkah-Madinah return trip was 110 SAR (Dec 2016). Child fare is only 50%. For a family with 3 children, it's around 350SAR for the round trip. Compare that to around 400SAR one way on a regular taxi and you're easily looking at 50% savings. It's not only SAFER but also much more economical to travel by SAPTCO than by taxi. SAPTCO operates large comfortable buses with at least 2 drivers to keep things running smoothly. Opt for the VIP service if you want the bells and whistles like in-seat entertainment and meal service.
